i figured it out tonight

it’s the mountains

and the savanna

the rain forest

and the ocean

 

what i’ve been looking for

all of my life

has been here all along

i carry it around

inside of me

 

it’s in me

and out there

a space

that cries out

to be filled

 

the desert

the canyons

wild lions

swimming otters

they are the key

 

the lock catches

the door springs open

suddenly this place

in my heart

starts to grow

 

the feeling fills me

until it flows

from my fingertips

onto the page

stumbling and gasping for air
